Gallie Alley
Its name originates from the 1873-built Gallie Hall opera house. Since then, the town has been graced with the presence of numerous artists. “Gallie Alley is a great reflection of the collaborative grassroots spirit that Tallahassee has,” says artist Noelle Stillman. Gallie Alley is the passageways and courtyards behind buildings by College Avenue and Monroe, Jefferson, and Adams streets. Today, Galley Alley is used as a shortcut and now brings a “sense of community and gives it an uplifting feel” explains Elizabeth Emmanuel, CEO of the Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority (TDIA).
