First Mother Mural

The First Mothers Mural is the first and only mural in Tallahassee created by artists Wilson Bowers and Samuel Tommie, of the Seminole Tribe and includes representation of the Seminole Tribe. Through the perspective of the painters, this intriguing piece of art depicts the origin narrative of the tribe. Artist Wilson Bowers stated, “I wanted to share something a little bit different, something a little bit more as to who we are.” You can find this mural on St. Augustine Street, directly across the street from the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.
